Explain how media contexts influenced two changes in the front pages of The observer between the 1960s and now. refer to the set products you have studied in your answer (10)
One way media contexts have changed from the 1960s and now is through how in the 1960s the newspaper was black and white to colour. This is would've been from how technology wasn't up to date in those days and not much money was put into it. Moreover, black and white was much cheaper than a type of colour which many companies preferred. In addition, the quality of the newspaper is very low due to the writing not being as clear as it is now, also hardly any coloured newspapers were circulated in the 1960s. However, in newspapers now the colour is in colour and feel like much better quality. This would've been because much more money is now invested into the papers to make them catch readers eyes to maybe gain a higher audience, also they have much better quality with clearer images and writing.
Another way media contexts have changed from the 1960s and now is through the representation of women in the The observer newspapers. This is shown in the 1960s how their would've been one reporter mentioned however in very small writing which not many would see. This is because men and women weren't seen as equals implying how women were seen as much more inferior than a male reporter. therefore suggesting the male dominated industry and how life was ruled mostly by men. However, Nowadays women and men as seen as much more as equals. This can be shown how women are seen as powerful not just cooks and women that look after children. therefore suggesting how over time gender roles have become much more equal between women and men. Moreover, women are much more represented now and there are many more female presenters.
